That was yesterday, today is a new day and Corm and the Coach are back on radio and soon to be on TV.
Thank you to our fans for your patience. Thank you to the Charter members who took that leap of faith to support us. Today was like Christmas for me. Doing what I love to do, doing it with a great friend that makes me laugh and helping people in this community that need it. Does it get any better than that. Oh yea, and I get paid to do it. For thousands of you that is great news, but for my old employer, it's brings the same old same old crap and attacks.
Recently we receive a nasty message on our blog, www.1071wnmr.wordpress.com When we looked up the e-mail address, it was phony e-mail address, but when we researched it more we found that the IP address went right back to my old employer, Vox, IE: Champ. Talk about being stunned and surprised!!
How stupid can they be. The purveyors of lies and hate continue to do what they always do, focus on being complete and utter idiots. I direct this to the owner, not the airstaff who I have no hate or malice toward.
Your little petty attacks only inspire me to rise above it and be great. You didn't want Corm and the Coach and now you have to live with that decision. Your downfall is just around the corner. Who ever started that rumor is way off base. We like the Governor. He likes us. As a former radio guy, maybe he wants to get back into it and heard we are owners of a radio station. I can't picture him sitting around at home doing nothing. He's not that kind of person. So let me make it perfectly clear, Governor, since you will be out of work in less than 16 months, I will keep a job open for you. Maybe we can get you and Howard Dean to do a talk show together once a week. Between the two of you and all your years of running this state, maybe the two of you can solve the problems of Vermont and beyond just by hosting a 2 hour talk show once a week. How cool would that be. I'm all for it. We'll just wait for your response. If I don't hear from you soon I'll just hold a chicken BBQ dinner and ribbon cutting ceremony or something like that. I hear you like both. Until then, thank you for your over 30 years of public service to our state. You are a nice guy and a giver. At least that's one thing we can all agree on.

Back in the saddle

Strap on your boots....here we go. The return of Corm and the Coach. Finally!!!! As many of my friends know, I said I was not going to get back into radio unless it was unique and I got a piece of the pie. After all, I spent the past 23 years of radio in Burlington before a former friend of mine decided to throw me off the bus. So why would I want the same old same old. No thank you. Get back into a business to treated like that again, especially by someone I trusted. NFW!!

All that changed with a phone call from someone I knew but had never worked with. The only reason I got that call, I was no longer at Champ. That call turned into other calls and now this chance, to be on the radio with my buddy the coach and not to mention, the chance to have our radio show simulcast on TV. Be President of the radio division of our multimedia company, Convergence Media group with Radio, Tv, Internet and more to come. That's unique, and as I like to say, the cherry on top of the whipped cream.....a piece of the pie....Ownership! It all came together.
I had something very special taken away from me and now I have the chance to do it bigger and better. Like me or not, listen to the show or not, it's your choice but I can tell you, Coach and I will be a force in this town for the positive. Their might be 22 radio station in this town, but you can count on one hand the good ones.
To conclude, this has not been an easy year for me in many way. Getting laid off, which has the potential to turn out great, the loss of one of my dearest friends Bill Corbeil, but the drive to help his wife Kelli keep the dream alive. Things are on the up turn. To all of you who like me got laid off, don't lose faith. Good things happen to good people.
Thanks to my wife and family for their support and to my new partners for having the faith in me to do big things.
Now, Strap on the boots.... here we go.

There is nothing here.

I have been remiss on blogging. I have been busy doing nothing. I sleep in most mornings until 8-8:30. I stay up until 11 or so. I watch Ice Road Truckers, Deadliest catch, Red Sox base ball and the weather channel. The new line up is, Steph in the morning, Heather and or Kelly in the midday and Nicole late at night. I have only played 4 rounds of golf including a 92 at VNCC Sunday from the Gold tee's. I hit the ball very well. 2 of the 4 times I've played have been in scrambles. My teams have finished 3rd and 2nd with the second place finish most recently at the Ronald McDonald tourney. At least they still know me in McDonald's. I also travel to Brattleboro every 10 days of so but beside that, nothing!!
Oh yea, I stiffed the guy who laid me off when he tried to talk to me. Sorry Howdy Doody, my personal life is none of your business. I am so much better not working for you or with you. You are nothing but a bad memory.
Now that I got that off my chest. Wish someone had told me? As much I would love that to happen, on several levels, it is not. Not today, not tomorrow, not next week, you get the point. Plus the Coach has a job already lined up that will be announced soon. Yes more college Basketball games on TV.
I will admit that I am helping someone on a project that is media related, and I am getting a few dollars. So with that the rumors spread like wild fire. I have told anyone who ask me about getting back into radio. Unless it's unique and I get a piece of it, I have no interest. First, why would I do the same old same old and second, why without security. I just got burned big time by someone I thought I knew and trusted. Boy was I wrong. That is true, but what a lousy leader he is. Time and time again he has shown that he does not want to work with people. It's his way or the highway. Does the Governor understand that this state is overwhelmingly Democratic? Yes he is the Governor and yes he is a Republican, but he has run against very weak Democratic candidates. We as Democrats always seem to come up with great candidates for the House and Senate, but we lack real leadership when it come to candidates for Governor. Lets hope that changes in the 2010 run in the race for Governor. Honestly, I don't see it right now and I am a die hard born in the wool Ted Kennedy Democrat. In my life I have voted one time for a republican and that was Malcolm Severance. I did it for several reasons. Only 3 candidates where running for the house in my district, a Democrat and two republicans. Malcolm backed civil unions and the other republican spewed hate about it, plus Malcolm was a good man.
My point, if the Democrats and Progressives stay together, we can override any veto the Governor puts forth. He was wrong on Gay Marriage and he is wrong on the budget. We need to override his budget veto. Not just because it's the right thing to do, but also it will let the Governor know, that if doesn't want to be part of the process, he will be on the sidelines watching.
Once again, I like Jim Douglas but his lack of leadership and willingness not to work with people will be his legacy.

4.0

Wow, for the first time in the history of the world, a Cormier got 5 A's on a report card. Congrats to my son Steve who just got his Second Semester grades from LSC. All A's. I think we need to check our DNA. Smoking cigars tonight. Maybe even a beer
Busy weekend. Golf in the morning. Believe it or not, my first time out, tomorrow night it's the Calcutta for the Colchester football team at the Pourhouse. Even if we don't win the big bucks the meal is worth it. Then Sunday, off to a graduation party for the daughter of a good friend of mine. Catlin graduates UVM and she has a job already. Good for her. Of course the summer job at Newt's doesn't really count. Newt's, great little creamie stand on rte 5 in White River Junction Vermont.
Then it's off to Brattleboro to keep the dream alive and see old friends.

And if anyone finds my job out there, please call me, I can't seem to find it.

Hanging with the Coach

Had the chance to hang with the Coach the other night. 60th Birthday party so yes I had to have a beer. We even called Burkie up and said hi to her. Just like old days. Just so you know, The TV show that we had talked about for the past 4 years is ready to shoot a pilot. We might see it in November this year or January of 2010. How cool would that be. The basketball coach who did a radio show.
Yes, we did talk radio and we both miss doing the show but not at 4:30am. That is the only detraction from doing it again, and oh yea, the fact that we don't have a radio station to do it on. I have to say though, the feedback we both get when we are out is overwhelmingly to get back together and do it again. As I mentioned in my first post, radio in this town sucks so I can see why people would like us to reunite. It would be fun, but as I like to say, How many r's in fat chance.
Congrats to Ian Kelly who was married over the weekend. Still doing mornings on 96.7 WTSA in Brattleboro Vermont. That was the Station the Bill "The Rocker" Corbeil bought a few years back. Very very sad that Bill died just a few weeks back. He was one of my dearest friends. I was honored when his wife Kelli ask me to give his eulogy. I have so many great memories of our times together and of course the legendary rocker stories. Sometimes it's the little things we miss. I would get a call just about every Friday night from Bill. I knew it was him because of could hear the ice in his drink glass. That and the fact that once you got to Bill's house, there was no leaving until he wanted you to leave. Bill only lived to 40, but he had incredible passion and he lived his dream. Not many people can say that in 80 years of life. RIP my friend and Long live the memory of "The Rocker."

Still Alive and Kicking

So, what are you doing. The first thing everyone ask when they see me. It's been over 3 months since I got laid off from Vox communications. Nothing I did wrong. They way I look at it, it's because I did things right. When you do things right over 23 years you get a raise each year. I was let go because I made too much money. Thank you Bean counters!
Here is what I realized. I miss the security of a check, I miss some of the people I worked with, and most importantly, I miss helping you. I loved doing things for the community. That was taken away from me. I also realized that I was bored with my job. Radio is not like the old days when you could have tons of fun. Clear Channel killed that and so did the bean counters who run and own Champ.
Is radio in my future. Probably not, unless I find something very unique and I get a piece of it, and oh yea, it has to be fun because right now, radio in this town and around the country pretty much sucks. How many times can you play Led Zepplin's "Rock and Roll." I do take some of the blame because I did that for 23 years in this town. It doesn't work anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love Led Zeppelin but even Robert Plant is changing up the song when he does it live in concert.
So what am I doing, nothing. There's your answer. I guess I should enjoy it while I can.
